iData Hits the Headlines

We’ve just been interviewed by Comms Business for a profile in an upcoming edition and editor Ian Hunter has just put the following out in his newsletter:

I don’t get to speak to enough resellers so when I get an opportunity I generally grab it. Last week I had a long chat to one of the founders of iData a North Wales based reseller that has only been established since February 2008. You’ll read the full interview in the July issue.

Anyway, the company was started in a converted garage at the Dad’s house – brilliant! And by three guys that were essentially fed up with their lot working for a mobile reseller linked exclusively to one network operator. They thought they could do more with convergence so set out to prove it.

They added a PBX (Capstan’s LG-Ericsson IPECS) and lines and minutes and broadband (TalkTalk Business/Gamma/Openreach) and bought a billing platform (Union Street).

Now with 11 employees they are doing really well – all their suppliers have been very supportive and, lo and behold, they are set to launch their own channel services offering having tested out with 10 resellers who came to them by word of mouth.

Oh yeah, they moved out of the garage as well!

Next up they say they are looking to take on hosted/cloud based applications in the next six months as they see a massive opportunity there opening up before them.

Meanwhile, their mobile sales have also expanded – they sell a lot of smart phone and mobile data and are now supplying tablets as well.

Daisy came up more than a few times in the conversation and it was clear that Mr Riley is admired for what he has done there to the point that iData referred to themselves as a ‘Mini Daisy’

I’m seeing the aforementioned Mr Riley later this week. I’m sure he’ll be impressed!
